Prince Edward County, ON – County Stage’s production of The 39 Steps, will be performed at the iconic Eddie Hotel & Farm this summer from July 15th to August 6th, 2023.

The award-winning parody of Alfred Hitchcock's classic film, adapted by Patrick Barlow, comes to life in this site-specific outdoor experience in the heart of Prince Edward County. Director Monica Dottor creates a vibrant, comical world using modern choreography and vaudeville stage magic.

Every plot twist and turn will transport audiences into the whimsical world of vaudeville and film noir on a clever rotating set by award-winning designer Steve Lucas, magical props by associate designer Tanis Sydney MacArthur, original sound design by Rebecca Everett and lighting by Kristen Leboeuf.

The 39 Steps features theatre favourites Helen Belay, Courtney Ch’ng Lancaster, Brandon McGibbon and Courtenay Stevens playing over 150 zany characters. This Broadway smash hit comes to life under the summer sky set against a scenic backdrop of Prince Edward County’s idyllic landscape. The 39 Steps promises to entertain and immerse the audience into a world of adventure, espionage, suspense… with a large dose of comedy.

Our leading man, Richard Hannay (Brandon McGibbon), becomes embroiled in a high stakes conspiracy after Annabella (Courtney Ch’ng Lancaster), a woman he’s only just met, is murdered in his apartment. This sets off a chain of events thrusting him into a web of espionage and intrigue as he attempts to clear his name while evading the authorities and "The 39 Steps," a mysterious organization.

Two Clowns (Helen Belay and Courtenay Stevens) round out the cast playing everything from a vaudeville duo, spies, assassins, travelling salesmen, politicians, constables and innkeepers.

This film noir gem combines hilarious comedy, inventive stagecraft, virtuoso performances, and every single legendary scene from the award-winning movie including the chase on the Flying Scotsman, the escape on the Forth Bridge, the bi-plane crash, and the death-defying finale!
